Love Island Star’s NTAs Plans Derail After Traffic Chaos

A contestant from Love Island, Kady McDermott, was unable to attend the National Television Awards on October 31, 2023, following a frustrating journey that included a collision with a cyclist. Kady expressed her disappointment on social media, highlighting the chaotic circumstances that led to her absence from the prestigious event.
While fellow Love Island alumni, including Olivia Attwood and Molly-Mae Hague, enjoyed the glitzy night, Kady faced a series of misfortunes. She reported being stuck in traffic for three hours on a journey that typically takes just one hour, exacerbated by heavy rainfall and a mishap involving a cyclist who struck her vehicle’s wing mirror.
Frustration and Disappointment
In a candid Instagram post, Kady, 30, shared her frustration with her followers, stating, “Got caught in floods of rain when I got petrol so now I look like Hagrid.” She further lamented, “So no NTAs for me tonight. Had the cutest dress too.”
In stark contrast, Molly-Mae Hague, 26, not only reached the awards ceremony but also won the award for Authored Documentary for her Amazon Prime series, Behind It All. This success showcased a remarkable achievement for the former reality star, emphasizing the varied experiences of attendees that evening.
Additional Drama at the After Party
The night was not without further drama, as fellow former Islander Matilda Draper and her boyfriend, Roman Hackett, faced their own setbacks. The couple was reportedly denied entry to the VIP after party, despite being part of the same ITV family. Witnesses described Matilda, 25, as visibly frustrated while attempting to convince security of their celebrity status.
Echoing her frustration, Matilda was overheard exclaiming, “But we are from ITV!” as they lingered near the entrance in hopes of gaining access. Ultimately, the couple was seen leaving the private area and returning to mingle with the general public in the arena.
One onlooker recounted Matilda’s reaction, stating she expressed her dissatisfaction by saying, “It looks like the most f***ing s*** after-party anyway.” This encapsulated the mix of emotions experienced by attendees at the National Television Awards, highlighting both the highs and lows of the evening.
As Kady settled in for a quiet evening with a glass of wine, her experience serves as a reminder that even glamorous events can come with unexpected challenges. The juxtaposition of the attendees’ experiences underscores the unpredictability of such high-profile occasions.
