Urgent Plans for Dunmore Redevelopment Set for January Submission
UPDATE: Galway County Council is poised to submit a critical planning application for the major redevelopment of Dunmore set for January 2024. This ambitious project aims to revitalize the area by demolishing derelict buildings on Bridge Street, widening the road, and creating a brand new urban park that promises to enhance community life.
The redevelopment will also address improvements on Barrack Street, High Street, and Castle Street. Key upgrades will focus on enhancing footpaths, lighting, and overall accessibility for residents and visitors alike.
Public consultation on the plans initially opened in August but was temporarily withdrawn to resolve technical issues concerning the derelict buildings on Bridge Street. A new public consultation launched just two weeks ago is now underway, running until November 26th. Local residents are encouraged to submit their feedback until mid-December, ensuring community voices are heard in this transformative process.
Local Fine Gael Councillor Ollie Turner emphasized the urgent need for attention on Bridge Street, stating, “This area has been in dire need of revitalization for far too long.” His sentiment echoes the frustration of many who have awaited these developments for years.
As the deadline for public submissions approaches, the community is urged to participate actively in shaping the future of Dunmore. This project is not just about infrastructure; it represents a renewed hope for residents who deserve a vibrant, accessible urban space.
Stay tuned for more updates as the planning application progresses and the voices of the Dunmore community shape the outcome of this vital redevelopment. The future of Dunmore is now in your hands!
