Donegal Community Games Celebrates Successful Year at AGM
The Donegal Community Games held its annual general meeting in Letterkenny on March 11, 2024, celebrating a notably successful year for the organization. The event saw strong attendance from representatives across various areas of Donegal, including several new regions eager to participate in the community-driven initiative.
Achievements and Volunteer Appreciation
Chairman Manus O’Donnell acknowledged the significant increase in competitor numbers throughout the county, reflecting the hard work and dedication of all involved. He emphasized the vital role that sports play in uniting communities, fostering teamwork and camaraderie among participants.
During his address, O’Donnell expressed gratitude to Cathal Hagan, the county treasurer, for his unwavering support over the past year. Hagan, who recently celebrated his 80th birthday, was described as an inspiration to many. O’Donnell recognized the essential contributions of volunteers, whose efforts have been crucial in promoting local sports and activities.

Committee and Future Outlook
The meeting reaffirmed that all officer positions will remain unchanged for the upcoming year, with the following individuals continuing in their roles: Manus O’Donnell as Chairman, Sineád Hagan as Secretary, Cathal Hagan as Treasurer, Tony McCarry as PRO, and Jennifer Hunter as Children’s Officer. The presence of national representative Sineád Colloran from Galway was also noted, with attendees expressing appreciation for her commitment to traveling to Donegal and engaging with local members.
In concluding remarks, O’Donnell looked forward to the continued success of the Donegal Community Games and expressed optimism about future events, inviting everyone to reconvene in 2026.
