Liam Gallagher’s Fishing Rod Mishap Resolved at Oasis Aftershow

UPDATE: A long-standing fishing rod mishap involving Liam Gallagher has been resolved, bringing a nostalgic twist to fans just in time for Oasis’s highly anticipated concerts at Croke Park on August 16 and 17, 2023. Brendan ‘Beamish’ Dowling, known as the ‘courier to the stars’, shared his story about lending a fishing rod to Gallagher ahead of the legendary band’s performance at Slane Castle in 1995.
In a remarkable revelation, Dowling reflected on a sunny day by the River Boyne when he encountered Liam and Noel Gallagher. At the time, Oasis was not yet the global sensation they would become. “I had no idea who Liam was because back in 1995, Oasis weren’t famous,” Dowling recounted. He generously offered his fishing rod for the brothers to enjoy some downtime before their show.
However, after a mix-up involving security staff, Gallagher inadvertently took the spinner from Dowling’s fishing rod. “We got them back but there was no sign of the spinner on my fishing rod,” said Dowling, who often pondered the fate of his lost tackle as Oasis skyrocketed to fame.
Fast forward two years, and fate had a surprise in store. During an aftershow party at Harry’s Bar, Dowling seized the opportunity to connect with Gallagher again. “I said, ‘Liam, you probably won’t remember, but I lent you my fishing rod at Slane Castle,’” he recalled. To Dowling’s delight, Gallagher responded, “Yeah, I remember,” and then added, “I’m so sorry” for the lost spinner.
In a generous gesture, Gallagher returned with two signed Oasis t-shirts, saying, “That’s for the spinner.” This heartfelt moment not only mended old ties but also showcased Gallagher’s humility.
As Oasis prepares to return to Ireland for their major concerts, excitement is palpable among fans. A pop-up store on St Stephen’s Green in Dublin is attracting attention, offering exclusive merchandise from the band’s Live ’25 tour. The store opened on August 14 and will remain operational until August 17, with hours extending from 10 AM to 8 PM throughout the week.
The buzz surrounding Oasis is palpable, and their fanbase is eager for the upcoming shows. With the band set to perform in front of thousands, excitement for the concerts continues to grow as fans prepare to relive the magic of one of rock’s most iconic groups.
As the countdown to the concerts begins, fans are encouraged to share their experiences and memorabilia as they gear up for an unforgettable weekend with Oasis.
