The FSAI has emphasized that consumers should not consume any of the recalled products. While there is currently no evidence linking this recall to other recent listeriosis outbreaks, the potential for serious health complications remains a concern. Symptoms of listeriosis can range from mild flu-like signs to severe complications, particularly in vulnerable populations. These groups include pregnant women, infants, and individuals with weakened immune systems, such as the elderly.

According to the **Health Protection Surveillance Centre**, symptoms of listeriosis may include fever, fatigue, and gastrointestinal issues such as nausea and diarrhea. In more serious cases, the infection can lead to complications involving the central nervous system, manifesting as meningitis or septicemia. These severe symptoms may include headaches, confusion, or even convulsions.

This recall follows another recent incident involving cheese products sold at **SuperValu**, which were also found to potentially carry **Listeria monocytogenes**. The affected products included **SuperValu Goat’s Cheese** with use-by dates of **August 7** and **August 12**, along with “Freshly Prepared by Our Cheesemongers Goat’s Cheese” and “SuperValu Chevre Log” in various package sizes.

The FSAI remains vigilant, urging manufacturers and retailers to act swiftly to remove contaminated batches from the market. Recall notices will be displayed at points of sale to inform consumers.
