Finnair Tops List of Europe’s Least Reliable Airlines in 2025

A recent evaluation has identified the least reliable airlines in Europe for 2025, with Finland’s flag carrier, Finnair, earning the lowest score. The assessment, conducted by the German company Flightright, which assists passengers in claiming compensation for flight disruptions, analyzed the top 20 airlines across the continent. The ranking focused on criteria such as reliability, compensation payment behavior, and customer satisfaction, culminating in a table that ranks airlines from the lowest to the highest scores.

Finnair received a dismal score of 2.48 out of 10, primarily due to significant operational challenges. The airline faced a 76.4% drop in profits during the second quarter of 2025, largely attributed to industrial action affecting flight stability and reliability. The disruptions resulted in numerous last-minute cancellations and limited rebooking options, leading to increased customer dissatisfaction.

Another noted the airline’s high prices and poor onboard services, describing their experience as “s****y” despite acknowledging safety as a lone positive.

In response, a spokesperson for Finnair acknowledged the impact of strikes organized by the Finnish Air Line Pilots’ Association and the Finnish Aviation Union. “Unfortunately, industrial action has affected the reliability of our flights this year,” they stated. They expressed relief at having reached agreements with all employee groups, emphasizing the airline’s commitment to restoring reliability.

Ranking of Europe’s Worst Airlines

Following Finnair, Vueling and Ryanair were ranked second and third worst, with scores of 2.52 and 2.58, respectively. Vueling faced high summer cancellations and inadequate compensation for affected passengers, while Ryanair struggled with delays, hidden fees, and aggressive policies that frustrated customers.

Other airlines making the list include easyJet, which scored 2.68 for service cuts and unstable schedules, and KLM, which also received a score of 2.72 due to declining customer service. British Airways, Wizz Air, Condor, Swiss International Air Lines AG, and Turkish Airlines rounded out the bottom ten, each facing their unique challenges resulting in low customer satisfaction ratings.
