Kilkenny Woman Transforms Life Through Inspiring Weight Loss Journey
Noelette Reidy, a resident of Piltown in Kilkenny, has embarked on a remarkable weight loss journey that has transformed her life over the past year. Just twelve months ago, she faced significant challenges with her health and mobility, largely due to her weight. Now, she shares her story as many people around the world set new resolutions for healthier living.
Reidy recalls how, in 2020, she found herself “getting heavier and heavier” while dedicated to caring for her four teenage sons. “I put everything into them and very little into myself,” she reflected. By late 2024, her weight had begun to impact her daily life in profound ways. She struggled with simple tasks, such as walking up stairs or picking things up off the floor. “I had got very heavy… day-to-day functioning had become very difficult,” she explained.
Feeling increasingly overwhelmed, she realized that neglecting her own health was not sustainable. “There were a couple of things going to give… with my health and my physical wellbeing,” she said. Reidy noted that while she prepared nutritious meals for her family, she often found herself snacking on unhealthy foods.
In January 2025, Reidy made a pivotal decision to join **Slimming World** in Kilkenny. The motivation behind her choice was clear: “I have to save myself… if I don’t start this journey, I’m going to be in bother health-wise.” This commitment marked the beginning of a challenging but rewarding path toward improved health and well-being.
Facing Challenges on the Journey
Reidy acknowledges that losing weight is not an easy process. “I had a big, long road ahead of me. Every part of trying to lose weight is difficult; there’s no question about it,” she said. Her perspective emphasizes that the goal of weight loss should not be tied to specific events or occasions. “Losing weight is not for Christmas, it’s not for a wedding, an occasion or a holiday; it’s for life,” she stated.
The support she found in her Slimming World group has been instrumental in her journey. As of January 2026, the group has welcomed 56 new members, collectively shedding an impressive total of **16.6 stone** in just the first week. This community aspect has provided Reidy and others with the encouragement needed to pursue their health objectives.
Reidy’s journey serves as a powerful reminder that personal transformation is possible with determination and support. By prioritizing her health, she is setting an example for her family and others in the community.
As she continues her journey, Reidy hopes to inspire others who may be struggling with similar challenges. “If I can do this, anyone can,” she concludes, embodying the spirit of resilience and change that many seek at the start of a new year.
