Lifford Woman Donates Hair for Children’s Wigs and Raises Funds
A Lifford woman is making a significant impact this holiday season by donating her hair to support children in need. Esther Jean Cullen, the owner of Donegal Leisure Training, cut 40 cm of her hair to create a wig for a child experiencing hair loss due to illness. This act of generosity also aims to raise funds for LauraLynn Ireland’s Children’s Hospice, which provides essential palliative care for children with life-limiting conditions.
Esther is no stranger to hair donations. Over the past 12 years, she has grown her hair long enough to donate on four separate occasions. She has previously sent her locks to the Rapunzel Foundation and The Princess Trust, organizations dedicated to providing wigs and support to children and young people facing hair loss.
In addition to her hair donation, Esther has set a fundraising target of €500 for LauraLynn. The hospice plays a crucial role in offering specialized care and support not only to the children but also to their families during challenging times. Her online donation page remains open, inviting the public to contribute to this worthy cause. Donations can be made at: https://www.idonate.ie/fundraiser/estherjeancullen4732.
Esther’s decision to donate during the festive season highlights the spirit of giving that characterizes this time of year. With her fresh new look for the upcoming year, she hopes to inspire others to consider similar acts of kindness. By intertwining her passion for helping children with her personal journey, Esther Jean Cullen exemplifies how individuals can create positive change within their communities.
As the New Year approaches, her efforts stand as a reminder that small actions can lead to significant impacts, especially for those in need.
