League of Ireland Launches Academy Recruitment Drive for Coaches
The League of Ireland has commenced its recruitment process for personnel to staff academies across the country. This initiative aims to identify qualified candidates for key roles as opportunities arise within various clubs. The announcement follows the government’s commitment to provide annual funding to enhance the critical infrastructure needed for these academies.
In the latest budget, the Irish government has allocated €3 million on a multi-year basis specifically for developing structures and improving facilities associated with the academies. This funding supports the establishment of a robust framework for nurturing young talent in football.
Potential candidates are encouraged to apply for the roles of Head of Academy Coaching and Academy Director, each offering three-year fixed contracts. According to a statement on the League of Ireland’s official website, those who successfully advance beyond the initial stage will need to engage in a further club-specific recruitment process with the relevant League of Ireland club(s) before receiving any formal job offers.
A Head of Academy Coaching will oversee the technical and coaching programmes for all girls’ and boys’ age groups in the academy. The position requires candidates to possess a UEFA A Licence or an equivalent qualification. On the other hand, Academy Directors will focus on strategic leadership and management, ensuring the overall development of both girls’ and boys’ academies.
The responsibilities for the Academy Director role include fostering a high-performing environment prioritising culture, player development, strong governance, operational excellence, and long-term sustainability for the academy. A UEFA A Licence is also a prerequisite for this position.
For more details on the application process and requirements, interested individuals can find additional information on the League of Ireland’s website. This recruitment drive marks a significant step towards enhancing the quality of football education and development in Ireland, reflecting the governing body’s commitment to nurturing future talent in the sport.
