Ballybofey SEED Project Moves Forward as Construction Awaits Tender
URGENT UPDATE: Progress on the highly anticipated SEED project in Ballybofey has just taken a significant leap forward. Cllr Patrick McGowan, the Leas Cathaoirleach of the Lifford Stranorlar Municipal District, announced that the restoration of the historic Ritz Cinema’s front façade is now officially going to tender, with hopes for construction to kick off in spring 2026.
This revitalization will transform the former cinema into a modern three-story enterprise facility, aimed at boosting local business and community engagement. The project is set to exceed initial cost estimates of €9 million, as additional plans for a new two-storey car park are currently under deliberation due to ongoing compulsory purchase orders.
The proposed car park will allow for the redevelopment of the existing public parking area opposite the Balor Arts Centre into a vibrant civic space, enhancing the local environment and providing much-needed amenities.
Cllr McGowan emphasized the importance of this progress, stating, “The advancements with the Ritz building mark a pivotal moment for Ballybofey, bringing new opportunities for local businesses and the community.”
As the project moves forward, the community eagerly awaits further updates on timelines and additional developments. With construction anticipated to begin soon, the SEED project promises to be a transformative initiative for Ballybofey, showcasing the potential for growth and revitalization in the area.
Stay tuned for more updates on this developing story as the SEED project continues to unfold.
