Community Gathers for Vigil Mass Honoring Midwife Grace Benyin
UPDATE: A community in Clonmel is coming together for a Vigil Mass to honor the life and legacy of midwife Grace Aseidua Benyin, whose body was discovered earlier this week. The Vigil Mass is scheduled for Saturday, January 3, 2024, at 7:30 PM at St Peter and Paul’s Church on Gladstone Street.
Grace, a beloved mother of four and dedicated midwife at Tipperary University Hospital, was last seen on November 21, 2023. Her body was found near the Holy Year Cross, approximately 4 kilometers south of Clonmel, on December 22. Authorities from Gardai have confirmed that there is no indication of foul play, categorizing her death as a personal tragedy.
The community’s response has been heartfelt. A post on the Find Grace Benyin social media page invites family, friends, and the wider community to join in “Amazing Grace,” a Mass Vigil celebrating her remarkable life. The message emphasizes that this is not a funeral, but a gathering to remember the love and light Grace brought into the lives of those around her.
Local residents had organized extensive searches and vigils following Grace’s disappearance, demonstrating the deep sense of community and support for her family. As the Vigil Mass approaches, many are reflecting on her profound impact as a midwife and community member.
Funeral arrangements for Grace have yet to be announced. The community’s spirit remains strong as they prepare to honor her legacy this Saturday.
Stay tuned for further updates on this developing story and how the community continues to support Grace’s family during this difficult time.
