Cross-Border Intercultural Alliance Launches January 21
URGENT UPDATE: The launch of the Cross-Border Intercultural Alliance is set for January 21, 2026, at the Monaghan Peace Campus, from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM. This new initiative aims to foster positive relationships in communities facing rapid demographic changes across Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.
Developed by an alliance of five grassroots organizations, including the North West Migrants Forum and the Donegal Intercultural Platform, the Intercultural Cross-border Inclusion Programme (ICI) is a three-year project supported by PEACEPLUS. The initiative specifically targets both rural and urban areas within the counties of Donegal, Leitrim, and Monaghan.
As towns and villages across Ireland experience significant population growth and cultural shifts, the ICI Programme aims to create a more inclusive society. Paul Kernan from the Donegal Intercultural Platform emphasized the project’s importance, stating it is vital for empowering minority ethnic communities and encouraging active participation.
The launch event is open to the public, but registration is essential. A bus service will be available from Letterkenny, with stops in Derry, providing convenient access for attendees. Interested individuals can register using this link: https://bit.ly/ICIPLaunch.
This initiative comes at a crucial time, as Ireland grapples with both increased migration and the need for community cohesion. The ICI Programme is poised to make a significant impact on social integration, and local leaders are calling for widespread public support.
Stay tuned for more updates as we approach the launch date, and ensure to secure your spot at this pivotal event.
