BREAKING: Druid Theatre Company has just announced an urgent three-city tour of its critically acclaimed production of Shakespeare’s Macbeth set to launch in March 2024. This must-see adaptation will hit the stages of Galway’s Black Box Theatre from March 25 to April 5, followed by performances at Belfast’s Lyric Theatre from April 16 to 18, and wrapping up at Limerick’s Lime Tree Theatre from April 23 to 25.

This tour comes on the heels of sold-out runs earlier this year in Galway and Dublin, where the production received rave reviews, earning multiple five-star ratings. Audiences can expect Druid’s unique Irish perspective on this iconic tragedy, diving deep into the psyche of ambition and madness.

In this gripping rendition, Marty Rea stars as the ambitious general Macbeth, driven by a prophecy from three witches and the relentless encouragement of Lady Macbeth, portrayed by Marie Mullen. The consequences of their murderous pursuit unravel not only their lives but also the very fabric of their nation.

Garry Hynes, the Tony Award-winning director and Druid’s Artistic Director, expressed immense pride in this production, emphasizing its significance during the company’s 50th anniversary year. “We look forward to returning to Galway next spring and then taking the show on the road to visit audiences in Belfast and Limerick,” Hynes stated.

Druid has a rich history of bringing exceptional theatre to communities across Ireland since 1975, having performed in all 32 counties. This production exemplifies their commitment to local talent and sustainability, with costumes crafted at their Nuns’ Island Costume Department and sets built in their Ballybane Set Workshop.

In addition to public performances, Druid is dedicated to education, offering discounted tickets for students and a variety of educational resources, including free audio interviews.

Tickets for this urgent tour are on sale now. For more information and to secure your seat, visit www.druid.ie. Don’t miss the chance to experience this powerful reimagining of a classic tragedy—an event that promises to be both thrilling and thought-provoking.
