Dublin Airport has alerted passengers flying to the east coast of the United States about potential disruptions to flight schedules due to severe snowstorms affecting the region. As of now, one flight from Dublin to New York was cancelled on the morning of March 15, 2025. According to spokesperson Graeme McQueen, some inbound flights from cities like New York and Washington experienced delays of several hours. He cautioned that further disruptions could occur throughout the weekend.

The winter storm, which began impacting the northeastern United States on March 14, has led to widespread cancellations and delays. By Friday, more than 1,600 flights across the US were cancelled, with over 7,800 experiencing delays, as reported by the flight-tracking service FlightAware. The storm is expected to intensify overnight, with snowfall rates potentially reaching 2 inches per hour.

In response to the hazardous conditions, both New York and New Jersey have declared states of emergency. Kathy Hochul, the Governor of New York, urged residents to monitor local forecasts and limit travel unless absolutely necessary. She emphasized the importance of planning ahead, taking caution while traveling, and allowing extra time to reach their destinations safely.

As the situation unfolds, passengers flying from Shannon Airport have thus far not experienced cancellations or delays. A spokesperson for the Shannon Airport Group stated that flights to US destinations remain unaffected but advised travelers to check with their airlines for the latest updates.

The storm has also prompted ice storm warnings and winter weather advisories across much of Pennsylvania and Massachusetts. High winds are expected as part of the storm system. The three major airports serving the New York City area—John F. Kennedy, Newark Liberty International, and LaGuardia—reported significant flight cancellations and took to social media to alert travelers about possible disruptions.

As conditions continue to evolve, travelers are encouraged to stay informed and remain in contact with their airlines for the latest information regarding their flights.
