Infant Boy in Critical Condition After Louth Car Crash
URGENT UPDATE: An infant boy is in critical condition following a serious car crash in Dundalk, Co. Louth, on the evening of December 6, 2023. The collision, involving two vehicles, occurred at approximately 8:20 PM on the R132 road at Dowdallshill.
Emergency services, including Gardaí, rushed to the scene, where the infant was transported to the Children’s University Hospital in Dublin, where he remains under critical care. The driver of the first vehicle, a woman in her late 20s, sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda.
The second vehicle involved in the crash had a male driver in his early 50s and a female passenger, a teenager, both of whom were also transported to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
As a result of the incident, the R132 is closed while Forensic Collision Investigators conduct a thorough examination of the site. Local diversions are currently in place, affecting traffic in the area.
Authorities are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding this tragic event. The community is urged to stay clear of the area until further notice.
