Ireland Announces €42 Million Aid for Palestinians Amid Crisis

URGENT UPDATE: Ireland has just committed €42 million in humanitarian aid to support Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank. Conditions in the West Bank are equally alarming, with a surge in settler violence and restrictions affecting Palestinian communities. McEntee condemned Israel’s recent legislative decisions that further limit access to essential services such as water, electricity, and communications for UNRWA facilities, urging that “operations must be facilitated in line with the findings of the International Court of Justice.”

This new funding brings Ireland’s total support for Palestinian aid to €144 million for the year, following over €36 million allocated last year to various NGOs working in the area. McEntee’s discussions in the region are crucial as she prepares to meet with key stakeholders in Amman, Jordan, following her visit to Rafah.

During a previous meeting in Cairo, Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty acknowledged Ireland’s support for Gaza and emphasized the necessity for a two-way aid system at the Rafah crossing. “More caravans and aid need to be able to enter so that the international community can provide the bare minimum of decent shelter for our Palestinian brothers,” he stated.
