Ireland Launches Urgent 20% Tax Break for Reality TV Productions

UPDATE: Ireland has just announced a groundbreaking tax credit aimed at boosting the production of reality TV and game shows. The new initiative, confirmed today by Tánaiste Simon Harris and Minister for Culture and Communications Patrick O’Donovan, offers a 20% corporation tax credit for unscripted program expenditures, with a maximum limit of €15 million per project.

The tax credit requires production companies to first secure “interim cultural certification” from the Minister for Culture. To qualify for this incentive, productions must have a total cost of at least €250,000, with eligible expenditures no less than €125,000. This financial support aims to back Irish storytellers and crews, ensuring that both Irish and European cultures are reflected in programming viewed worldwide.
