Liam Neeson’s Film on Tuam Home Features Grandchildren of Activist

UPDATE: The long-awaited film, The Lost Children of Tuam, produced by Liam Neeson, is set to bring the haunting story of the Tuam mother and baby home to the big screen. The film features three of activist Catherine Corless‘s grandchildren, highlighting the emotional journey that led to the shocking discovery of children’s remains at the site.

Corless, whose groundbreaking research uncovered that 796 children died at the Tuam home, expressed her excitement about her grandchildren’s involvement. “It was beautiful to see them in the film,” she told Extra.ie. One of her grandsons portrays a young boy who discovered the remains in the 1970s, while her granddaughters reenact a poignant scene from her childhood.

Filming wrapped in October 2023, with the editing phase expected to conclude by the end of January. Although Corless is currently unaware of the exact release date, she anticipates it may premiere in late spring. “They said there would be three months of editing in total,” she stated, eager to share the film with audiences.

The film is produced by Element Pictures, the Oscar-winning company that secured the rights in 2018. The production team filmed on location in Tuam, Ireland, capturing the essence of this deeply emotional story.

Corless praised actress Monica Dolan, who portrays her in the film, saying, “She played it so well, I was nearly looking at myself.” Dolan’s commitment to authentically representing Corless’s life has received widespread acclaim, adding to the film’s anticipation.
