URGENT UPDATE: Major travel developments are set to transform the Irish travel market in 2026 as new flight routes and luxury accommodations are announced. Eoghan Corry, Editor of Travel Extra, revealed to RTÉ that both Ryanair and Aer Lingus are launching flights to exciting new American and European destinations, making travel more accessible for Irish citizens.

Starting this year, Aer Lingus will initiate direct flights to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, following a significant sponsorship deal with the Pittsburgh Steelers. In addition, the airline will also offer flights to Raleigh-Durham in North Carolina, a strategic hub for both business and leisure travelers.

Meanwhile, Ryanair is enhancing its offerings with direct flights to Tirana, the capital of Albania, known for its stunning beaches and lower costs. Corry emphasized the appeal of Tirana, stating, “You have those beautiful beaches at about 30% cheaper than those other destinations.” With this addition, only three European capitals remain without direct flights from Dublin.

This is a pivotal moment for travelers as Corry urges, “My strong advice is book early, you’re going to get better prices.” With prices expected to rise as demand increases, now is the time to secure travel plans.

In addition to new flight options, Irish travelers can look forward to luxury accommodations. Two new five-star hotels, The Hawthorn in Galway and The Grace in West Cork, are set to open in March 2026 and are already available for booking. The Grace, named after the legendary Pirate Queen, is designed to offer an unforgettable stay for visitors.

Furthermore, a new high-end hotel will debut at Dublin Airport, alongside the launch of approximately three new Premier Inns across the country, enhancing options for both tourists and staycationers.

With these significant additions to flight routes and accommodations, Irish travelers will soon have more choices than ever. For those planning their next getaway, the time to act is now. Stay tuned for more updates as further details emerge on these developments!
