A lively fundraising event held on October 7, 2023, at the Ballykisteen House Hotel brought together over 400 attendees to support the Pallasgreen GAA Club. The evening featured a unique competition inspired by the popular Netflix series Squid Game. Contestants faced a series of challenges, all in a bid to raise vital funds for the club’s extensive field development project, which includes the construction of a new stand and walkway.

The atmosphere was electric as men, women, and children gathered to cheer on 30 enthusiastic contestants. The night transformed friendships into friendly rivalries, with each participant aiming for the title of champion. Laughter and excitement filled the air, highlighting the community spirit that defines Pallasgreen GAA.

Christian O’Dwyer emerged victorious after a thrilling play-off against fellow contestant Michael Hally. His win not only secured him a prize of €3,000 but also meant that his chosen charity, the Milford Care Centre, received €7,000. This impressive fundraising success exceeded all expectations and underscored the commitment of the participants and supporters to the club’s future.

A Night of Celebration and Recognition

The event was not just about competition; it also served as a platform to honor local achievements. A heartfelt moment occurred when Colin Ryan was recognized for his All-Ireland Poc Fada victory earlier this year. The emotional presentation was made by his father, Denis Ryan, who is also the club chairman. This personal touch added depth to the evening, celebrating the hard work and dedication of local athletes.

Pallasgreen GAA expressed deep gratitude to all who contributed to the event’s success. The organizing committee, which worked tirelessly over the past three months, ensured a seamless experience for everyone involved. The club also acknowledged the main sponsors, Lee’s Centra and St Ailbe’s Credit Union, for their generous support.

Thanks extended beyond sponsors and organizers. The club appreciated all who sponsored contestants, donated raffle prizes, and attended the event. Special thanks were given to MC Valerie Wheeler and photographer Aoife Kiely for capturing the spirit of the night.

In closing, the Pallasgreen GAA Club highlighted the remarkable efforts of the 30 contestants who dedicated their time and energy to the Quid Game. Their commitment not only entertained but also significantly contributed to the club’s fundraising goals, ensuring a promising future for local sports development.
