Police Review on Balcony Death of Mark Blanco Linked to Pete Doherty
UPDATE: In a shocking development, the City of London Police have initiated a review into the 2006 balcony death of Mark Blanco, a case linked to singer Pete Doherty. Following a persistent campaign by Blanco’s mother, Sheila Blanco, authorities are considering bringing in a retired judge to aid in the investigation.
Blanco, who was just 30 years old when he died, fell from a balcony during a chaotic party that included allegations of drug use and a confrontation with Doherty’s associates. Despite extensive media coverage, including the Channel 4 documentary, Who Killed My Son?, the case has remained unresolved for nearly 17 years.
Sheila Blanco met with Commander Umer Khan on October 13, 2023, to discuss the potential review. “The City of London Police appeared more open and willing to investigate than the Metropolitan Police,” she stated, reflecting on her past experiences. This new initiative comes after a series of allegations that Mark was allegedly thrown from the balcony during a dispute with Doherty’s literary agent, Paul Roundhill, and his minder, Jonathan “Headlock” Jeannevol.
According to reports, Blanco was ejected from a “crack den” just moments before he fell. Eyewitness accounts and CCTV footage have raised significant questions about the circumstances surrounding his death. Notably, an FBI expert claims that Mark was indeed thrown over the balcony, stating, “The reverse projection clearly shows there couldn’t be just one person on the balcony.”
Despite initial investigations, no charges were filed, and authorities suggested suicide, a claim that was rejected by a coroner. Sheila Blanco has criticized the Metropolitan Police for dismissing critical evidence, including testimonies from forensic experts who argued Mark’s injuries were inconsistent with a self-inflicted fall.
As the City of London Police reviews the case, they will examine materials previously provided by the Metropolitan Police. The outcome of this review could potentially reopen the case and hold those responsible accountable. Commander Khan stated, “We are awaiting more information before a final decision is taken to carry out the review.”
The renewed focus on this case highlights the ongoing fight for justice by Sheila Blanco, who has tirelessly sought answers about her son’s tragic death. “I want to know who was responsible for Mark’s death,” she asserted, emphasizing the need for thorough investigation.
As this story develops, the public is urged to stay tuned for further updates and potential breakthroughs in the case that has haunted the Blanco family for nearly two decades. The implications of this review could resonate beyond the immediate parties involved, as it sheds light on issues of justice and accountability in tragic circumstances.
