Sean O’Brien Celebrates Wedding with Rugby Legends in Kilkenny
UPDATE: Rugby star Sean O’Brien tied the knot with Eloise O’Brien on December 30, 2025, in a lively ceremony in Kilkenny, bringing together rugby legends for a celebration filled with joy and country flair. The wedding, held at a traditional church, was followed by a vibrant reception featuring a Yellowstone theme that ensured a memorable end to the year.
The event saw notable appearances from fellow rugby icons Conor Murray, Paul O’Connell, and Peter O’Mahony, who joined the festivities, honoring their long-standing friendship and camaraderie on and off the field. The reception featured a unique Bucking Bronco, where Eloise showcased her adventurous spirit, much to the delight of Sean, who watched with laughter.
Guests embraced the couple’s rural roots by donning cowboy hats and boots, aligning perfectly with Sean’s nickname, the Tullow Tank. The couple, who share a son named Jack, also made sure their little boy looked dapper in his pageboy outfit during the church ceremony.
The wedding was not only a personal milestone for Sean, a third-generation farmer from Tullow, Co Carlow, but also a significant gathering of rugby talent. O’Brien, a former Leinster player, transitioned from Gaelic football to rugby, achieving notable success in both sports. His journey included winning a county minor football medal for Limerick before focusing solely on rugby.
Amid the celebration, guests enjoyed live music from one of Sean’s favorite bands, Mumford and Sons, filling the air with excitement and energy. O’Brien’s rugby community turned out in full force, with former teammates Mike McCarthy, Devin Toner, and Sean Cronin also in attendance, highlighting the strong bonds forged through sport.
Both O’Brien and O’Connell maintain significant roles in the Ireland international rugby setup, with Paul O’Connell serving as a key member of Coach Andy Farrell‘s team and even stepping in as interim head coach for Ireland’s summer tour last year. O’Brien contributes as a defensive coach within the Ireland A squad, showcasing their continued commitment to the sport.
As the celebrations continue, Sean and Eloise’s wedding stands as a testament to love, friendship, and the enduring spirit of the rugby community. This joyous occasion not only marked the beginning of their new life together but also reinforced the importance of camaraderie among sports legends.
The festivities are set to continue, with guests sharing their heartfelt wishes and memories, ensuring that this wedding will be remembered as a highlight of the year. Keep an eye on this developing story as more details emerge from the celebration.
