Status Yellow Rain Warnings Issued for Cork, Kerry, Waterford
URGENT UPDATE: Met Éireann has just issued a Status Yellow rain warning for Cork, Kerry, and Waterford, alerting residents of heavy rain, gusty winds, and potential localized flooding. The warning is effective from midnight on Tuesday, October 31, 2023, until noon, signaling serious weather conditions ahead.
This warning comes as the weather is set to turn dramatically, following a relatively bright start across much of the country today. However, forecasters predict that clouds will thicken in the south this afternoon, with rain expected to move northward by evening. Temperatures are anticipated to reach between 11 to 15 degrees Celsius, accompanied by light to moderate southerly winds that will ease later.
Looking ahead, Monday, October 30 is expected to begin damp and misty. Showers will gradually clear northwards by the afternoon, only for heavier rain to arrive later in the evening. Highs will range from 9 to 12 degrees, with winds intensifying overnight as rain sweeps across the nation.
Tuesday is forecasted to be the most severe day, with heavy rains leading to the possibility of localized flooding, mist, and coastal fog affecting many areas. Conditions will worsen with fresh to strong and gusty southeast winds, making travel hazardous. Temperatures will hover between 12 to 15 degrees.
Motorists are urged to exercise caution on affected roads as conditions deteriorate. The unsettled weather pattern is expected to linger into Thursday and Friday, but early indicators suggest a shift to cooler, more settled conditions could arrive from the north over the weekend.
As the situation continues to develop, residents are advised to stay updated on weather reports and heed local warnings. Share this information to keep friends and family informed about the impending weather changes.
