Tragic Loss: O’Loughlin Gaels Club President Mick Dooley Dies
BREAKING: The O’Loughlin Gaels community in Kilkenny is mourning the sudden loss of their beloved Club President, Mick Dooley, who passed away on Friday, October 20, 2023. This shocking news has left club members and supporters reeling from the impact of his departure.
Mick Dooley was a cornerstone of the O’Loughlin Gaels since its inception, playing a pivotal role in the club’s early successes. He proudly captained the team to victory in the first County Junior Championship in 1975. Even after his playing days, Mick remained an active and enthusiastic volunteer, contributing to every project and supporting all teams with unwavering dedication.
His commitment to the club was recognized when he was named Club President during a heartfelt Re-Union night for the 1975 championship-winning team. Members expressed their joy to see him don the club’s green jacket, a symbol of his lifelong dedication.
