University of Galway, EY Launch Urgent Cybersecurity Training for Executives
URGENT UPDATE: The University of Galway has just announced a groundbreaking collaboration with EY to launch a new cybersecurity training program for executives in 2026. This initiative targets leaders with no prior background in cybersecurity or IT, providing essential skills to combat rising digital threats.
The program, set to kick off in 2026, specifically caters to managers, team leaders, project managers, and others in leadership roles across various sectors. Initially focusing on the healthcare sector, the curriculum will cover critical concepts including risk management, understanding cyber threats, attack strategies, vulnerabilities, identity and access management, and cyber incident response.
According to Prof Alma McCarthy, Dean of the College of Business, Public Policy, and Law at the University of Galway, “In today’s rapidly evolving digital landscape, cybersecurity is more critical than ever. It is essential that management teams across all sectors are equipped with the knowledge and skills to address cyber challenges.”
This program marks the first step in the J.E. Cairnes School of Business and Economics’ broader strategy to enhance executive education offerings. Following this initiative, a new training series focused on Artificial Intelligence for SMEs is also slated for release in 2026.
As cyber threats continue to escalate, this program is poised to empower leaders with the practical and cutting-edge expertise necessary for navigating today’s complex digital environment. The collaboration builds upon the established expertise of faculty involved in the MSc Cybersecurity Risk Management postgraduate degree and the MBA program at the University of Galway.
With the increasing importance of cybersecurity in all sectors, this program not only addresses immediate needs but also positions the University of Galway as a leader in executive education.
Stay tuned for more updates on enrollment details and specific start dates as this vital program develops. This is an opportunity for executives to enhance their skills and safeguard their organizations against cyber threats.
