Urgent Water Restrictions Announced for Kilkenny Area Residents
URGENT UPDATE: Uisce Éireann has just announced essential water restrictions for residents in the Castlecomer area of North Kilkenny, effective tonight, September 27, 2023. These overnight restrictions will be enforced from 9 PM to 9 AM until further notice to conserve water and ensure adequate supply during the day.
Residents and businesses in nearby towns including Clogh, Ardra, Massford, Moneenroe, and Coolbawn are warned to expect potential interruptions in their water supply, along with possible discolouration or reduced pressure during these hours.
According to Uisce Éireann spokesperson Shane Aylward, “Following recent heavy rainfall, the quality of raw water entering the treatment plant has been impacted, making it more challenging to maintain production levels.” Aylward emphasized that these restrictions are vital for ensuring a consistent water supply during the daytime.
Residents are urged to be mindful of their water usage during this period to help restore supply levels. Uisce Éireann recognizes the inconvenience this may cause and expresses gratitude for the community’s understanding and cooperation.
This development comes as Kilkenny grapples with fluctuating water quality issues. With heavy rains affecting water treatment operations, officials are acting swiftly to mitigate further complications.
Stay tuned for more updates on this situation, as Uisce Éireann is closely monitoring the water levels and supply conditions. Immediate action is crucial to ensure that local water demands are met.
