Urgent Weather Alert: Ireland Braces for Wet, Windy Weekend
URGENT UPDATE: Met Éireann has just announced a wet and windy weekend ahead for Ireland, with temperatures plummeting to as low as 1 degree Celsius tonight. The forecast warns of widespread rain, marking a significant shift in weather conditions starting today.
As Saturday dawns on November 4, 2023, initial weather reports indicate a mainly dry start with fog clearing gradually, allowing for brief sunny spells. However, this will be short-lived as the afternoon brings increasing cloud cover with rain and drizzle developing, particularly in the west and southwest of the country. Temperatures are expected to rise slightly, reaching a maximum of 7 to 11 degrees Celsius, but the relief will be fleeting.
Saturday night will turn “wet and blustery,” with heavy rain expected in many areas. The temperature will drop again, ranging from 2 to 7 degrees Celsius. Residents are urged to prepare for challenging conditions as rainfall intensifies.
Sunday, November 5, 2023, will continue the trend of “unsettled” weather. Forecasts predict strong and gusty winds coupled with persistent rain across the nation. The southern region, particularly Munster, may experience slightly drier conditions with a mix of showers and sunny spells, but temperatures will remain cool, between 6 and 10 degrees Celsius.
Late Sunday evening, rain is projected to gradually shift southward, leaving behind a mix of showers and clear spells by Monday morning. The night will see temperatures drop to between 3 and 6 degrees Celsius, with winds expected to ease into the early hours.
Residents are advised to stay updated on weather developments as conditions may change rapidly. This weekend’s weather poses potential disruptions, so plan accordingly and remain vigilant against the elements.
