Urgent Weather Alerts: Storm Goretti to Bring Snow and Rain

This morning, the forecast indicates outbreaks of rain from the Atlantic, likely reaching eastern counties by late afternoon after some clearer spells. Daytime temperatures are predicted to be as low as 3°C in the north and a milder 10°C in the southwest, plunging to nighttime lows of -1°C to 4°C.

In addition to the anticipated snow, a Status Yellow ice warning is currently in effect for Northern Ireland, with the UK Met Office alerting residents to icy patches due to scattered wintry showers valid until 11 AM today.

Looking ahead, as Storm Goretti continues its path over the UK and Europe, southern counties in Ireland are likely to experience wintry precipitation, while the north remains relatively dry with only coastal showers expected. Tomorrow night’s temperatures will drop to between -2°C and 2°C, with frost in some areas and sporadic rainfall anticipated along the eastern coast.

Friday is forecasted to be largely dry and bright, though wintry conditions may develop along the Atlantic coast with temperatures ranging from 3°C to 7°C. Showers will persist in the west, while inland regions are expected to remain mostly dry.

Looking towards the weekend, weather patterns suggest a return of wet and windy conditions from the west on Saturday, with colder spells predicted in the north. Sunday could see rain in southwestern counties, particularly heavy at times, before spreading northeast and potentially turning wintry.
