Warm Weather Continues, Heavy Showers and Thunderstorms Loom

UPDATE: A warm spell is set to continue today, with temperatures soaring up to 25 degrees Celsius in some regions, but heavy showers and thunderstorms are on the horizon. Met Éireann has issued warnings for scattered showers, particularly in the midlands, north, and east, starting this morning and intensifying throughout the day.
This afternoon, expect brighter spells to emerge, but the threat of rain remains significant. Tonight will bring a brief respite with dry conditions and temperatures dropping to between 10 to 14 degrees Celsius, although patches of mist and fog may develop.
Looking ahead to Friday, the warm weather will persist, with highs reaching between 20 to 26 degrees Celsius and plenty of sunshine. However, light showers may emerge in the west and north, signaling an impending shift in the weather pattern.
As we move into Saturday, most areas will remain dry initially, but showers are predicted to form in the southwest later in the day, progressing northward overnight. Expect a “very mild and muggy” night with lows of 14 to 17 degrees Celsius.
The situation takes a turn on Sunday as scattered showers, possibly heavy and thundery, will move in from the southwest during the afternoon and evening, continuing into Monday. Daytime temperatures will range from 19 to 26 degrees Celsius, making it crucial for residents to stay informed.
In Northern Ireland, a Status Yellow thunderstorm warning remains in effect until 10 PM today for counties including Antrim, Armagh, Down, Fermanagh, Tyrone, and Derry. The UK’s Met Office has cautioned that heavy showers and thunderstorms could lead to potential disruptions.
The warm and unsettled weather is expected to persist into the following week, according to Met Éireann, with a mix of sunny spells and heavy showers on the forecast. Stay tuned for updates, as conditions may change rapidly.
