Over 1,000 Blood Donations Recorded at Limerick Clinic

Last year, the Caherdavin blood donation clinic in Limerick recorded a remarkable total of 1,145 blood donations. This generous outpouring of support has the potential to save or significantly enhance the lives of up to three individuals for each unit donated. As a result, the Irish Blood Transfusion Service estimates that the contributions from the Caherdavin clinic could have helped approximately 3,435 patients throughout the year.
Blood donations are critical for numerous medical situations, including treatments for cancer patients, surgeries, and emergency care for accident victims. They are also vital for mothers facing complications during childbirth. The ongoing need for blood supply underlines the importance of donation events like those held at the Caherdavin clinic.
Upcoming Blood Donation Opportunity
The next blood donation clinic will take place at the Caherdavin Greenhills Hotel on August 21, 2024, from 16:20 to 19:40. Both new and returning donors are encouraged to participate. Appointments can be made by contacting the Irish Blood Transfusion Service at 1800 222 111.
The success of blood donation initiatives relies heavily on community involvement. Each contribution, no matter how small, plays a significant role in ensuring that hospitals have the necessary resources to treat patients in need. With the support of Limerick’s residents, the Caherdavin clinic continues to make a substantial impact on healthcare in the region.
