Limerick Blood Donation Clinic Collects Over 1,000 Units in 2022

The Caherdavin blood donation clinic in Limerick achieved a significant milestone last year, collecting a total of 1,145 blood donations. These donations have the potential to save or greatly enhance the lives of up to three individuals per unit, meaning that as many as 3,435 patients could have benefited from the generosity of local donors.
According to the Irish Blood Transfusion Service, donated blood is vital for various medical situations. It is particularly crucial for patients undergoing cancer treatment, individuals requiring surgery, victims of accidents, and mothers experiencing complications during childbirth. The consistent support from the community plays an essential role in ensuring that hospitals have the necessary blood supplies available.
The next donation clinic at Caherdavin Greenhills Hotel is scheduled for August 21, 2023, from 16:20 to 19:40. Both new and returning donors are encouraged to participate. The Irish Blood Transfusion Service is available for appointments at 1800 222 111.
Community involvement remains crucial, and every donation can make a significant difference. As blood donations are a critical resource in healthcare, the participation of local residents is essential for maintaining adequate blood supplies. The clinic’s success in 2022 exemplifies the impact of community spirit and the importance of coming together to support those in need.
