Vogue Williams’ Husband Spencer Matthews Upset Over Irish Passport Denial

Vogue Williams revealed that her husband, Spencer Matthews, was left feeling “raging” after missing out on a significant family privilege concerning Irish citizenship. Williams, who hails from Portmarnock, Ireland, is committed to instilling a strong sense of Irish heritage in their three children: Theodore, Gigi, and Otto. She strives to bring them back to Ireland as often as possible, aiming for them to forge friendships that will encourage them to cherish their time there.
To facilitate their connection to Ireland, the couple has obtained Irish passports for their children. In contrast, Matthews, who is often regarded as an “honorary Irishman,” has not received the same recognition. Williams candidly shared her thoughts with the *Sun*, stating, “I like to take the kids home as much as I can – I want them to have friends in Ireland, so that they always want to go back, and they enjoy spending time there.”
She expressed her desire for her children to learn Irish phrases, adding, “They got the free Irish passports, so they’ve got to work for it a little bit. They wouldn’t give Spenny one and he was raging.” The couple, married since 2018, owns a second home in Ireland, alongside their luxurious London flat. Their property in Howth, valued at approximately £2.3 million, has been described by Williams as their “forever home.” She has previously noted that their children “love it” and that it serves as a “relaxing space” for the family.
Williams also reminisced about her upbringing in the area, emphasizing her desire for her children to understand their “Irish roots.” Reports suggest that their plans are coming to fruition, as the children have already “made their own friends” in Ireland, further solidifying their connection to the country.
In a separate but notable development, Vogue Williams has temporarily sworn off alcohol following an embarrassing incident at YouTuber Jack Maynard’s wedding to heiress Lily Mackie. Williams recounted how she became overly enthusiastic about a margarita bar at the event, leading to a blurry memory of the evening’s conclusion. She admitted, “I got excited because there was a margarita bar… and the next day, I woke up and I remembered the last bit of the night but I definitely didn’t remember getting into the hotel room.”
In August, she announced her intention to abstain from drinking for three months but clarified on the *Never Live It Down* podcast that she “rarely” consumes alcohol. Despite Matthews suggesting she should cut back, she defended herself, stating, “When I say I drink f*** all – like, I rarely drink. I don’t even like the taste of it and he’s telling me that I need to lay off the booze. I was like, Spenny, I barely drink – it’s only because you’re not drinking.”
As the couple continues to navigate their family life, Williams remains focused on fostering a deep connection with her Irish heritage for her children, despite the challenges that may arise.
