Mark Goldbridge has become the first content creator to secure rights for broadcasting major European league football matches, specifically the German Bundesliga. His YouTube channel, That’s Football, will partner with Gary Neville’s channel, The Overlap, and the BBC to air 20 live games this season. The matches will be available free-to-air on Friday nights, marking a significant milestone in sports broadcasting.

The inaugural match, featuring defending champions Bayern Munich against RB Leipzig, will take place this Friday at the Allianz Arena, with kick-off scheduled for 19:30. This collaboration allows Goldbridge, who is also known for his popular Manchester United watchalong videos, to be among the first in the content creator space to hold such rights.

In a statement on social media platform X, Goldbridge expressed gratitude to his community for their support, stating, “That’s Football will stream 20 live Bundesliga matches on Friday nights as well as creating 34 weekly shows in the 2025/26 season – the first creator channel with official league rights. A landmark deal putting That’s Football alongside Sky, BBC, and Amazon in the Bundesliga UK strategy.”

Previously, live broadcasting rights for the Bundesliga were primarily held by Sky Sports, which continues to air Saturday 17:30 fixtures. This new arrangement introduces a fresh dynamic to the UK viewing landscape, enhancing access to top-tier German football.

Alex Kay-Jelski, Director of BBC Sport, commented on the significance of this partnership: “To be able to include Bundesliga matches within our live football offering is phenomenal, especially Bayern Munich’s opening game with England captain Harry Kane.”

As the football season unfolds, this innovative broadcasting model could reshape how audiences engage with international football content, blending traditional media and digital platforms. Goldbridge’s venture reflects a growing trend where content creators are increasingly recognized within the sports broadcasting realm, promising exciting developments for fans and creators alike.
