Derry City Council Offers Free Road Marshal Training – Sign Up Now!

URGENT UPDATE: Residents in the Derry City and Strabane District are being called to action! A free accredited training program to become qualified Road Marshals is now available, with sessions expected to kick off in early September 2025. This initiative, a collaboration between the Derry City and Strabane District Council and the Labour Market Partnership, aims to empower the community and enhance local event safety.
The program is designed to instill a stronger sense of community pride while equipping participants with essential skills to manage traffic at various local events, including fun runs, festivals, and other community gatherings. By enabling residents to take on the role of Road Marshals, the council hopes to ensure the safety of both attendees and the public, making events smoother and more enjoyable for everyone involved.
Why This Matters NOW: This training addresses a critical need for local communities, especially smaller groups and charities that often struggle to afford professional marshals. By lowering these barriers, the council aims to foster more inclusive community events that everyone can enjoy.
Interested individuals and community groups are urged to act quickly. To register your interest, visit derrystrabane.com/kickstart or contact Shonagh at [email protected]. Don’t miss this chance to play an important role in your community!
Next Steps: Applications will be reviewed shortly, and training sessions are expected to commence early next month. Stay tuned for updates and ensure you secure your spot in this vital training program.
This initiative not only builds essential skills but also strengthens community bonds, making it a significant opportunity for residents across the district. Share this news and encourage your friends and family to get involved today!
