Garda Suspended Following Death of 51-Year-Old Man in Dublin

A member of An Garda Síochána has been suspended following the death of a 51-year-old man in Dublin city centre. The individual succumbed to serious injuries sustained during an interaction with police officers near the Holiday Inn on O’Connell Street on March 15, 2024. The man died several days later in hospital, prompting an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Fiosrú, the Office of the Police Ombudsman, has initiated an independent investigation and launched a criminal inquiry into the matter. The incident occurred at approximately 4:15 AM and has been classified as involving serious harm to the individual, who later passed away.
