Man Charged with Sexual Assault of Two Women in Donegal Facility

BREAKING: A man has been charged with the sexual assault of two women at a nursing facility in Co Donegal. The urgent case unfolded today in Letterkenny District Court, where the accused faced Judge Ciaran Liddy.
Detective Garda Bobby Carey testified about the man’s arrest, which occurred on a busy Thursday in Letterkenny. Notably, the accused remained silent when the charges were presented. He is facing two counts of sexual assault against different victims at the same facility on distinct dates.
The first alleged incident took place between December 1 and December 31, 2022, while the second assault is reported to have happened between December 1, 2022, and May 4, 2023. Both charges violate Section 2 of the Criminal Law and Rape Amendment Act 1990, as amended by Section 37 of the Sex Offenders Act.
During today’s hearing, Garda Sergeant Jim Collins revealed that the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) has mandated that the case proceed to prosecution at the Circuit Court. The solicitor for the accused, Mr. Patsy Gallagher, confirmed that the Gardaí have no objections to bail.
The case has ignited significant public interest, highlighting critical issues surrounding safety at nursing facilities. As these serious allegations unfold, the community remains on high alert.
