BREAKING: Gardaí are currently investigating a series of alarming incidents involving aggravated burglary and criminal damage in Limerick, prompting an urgent appeal for witnesses. The incidents unfolded late on August 22 and early on August 23, 2023, leaving the community on edge.
At approximately 11:55 PM on Friday, a group of individuals forcibly entered a residence on Shanabooley Road in Ballynanty, causing significant damage before fleeing the scene in two vehicles. Just hours later, around 1:00 AM on Saturday, another report came in regarding criminal damage to a caravan located on the Dublin Road.
Crime scene investigators are currently examining both locations, focusing on gathering crucial evidence. Fortunately, there have been no reported injuries related to these incidents, but authorities are treating the situation with the utmost seriousness as inquiries continue.
Gardaí are making a direct appeal to the public for any information regarding these crimes. They are particularly interested in hearing from road users who may have dash-cam footage captured between 11:30 PM on August 22 and 1:30 AM on August 23, specifically in the Ballynanty and Groody areas of Limerick.
In a statement, authorities emphasized the importance of community vigilance:
“We urge anyone who witnessed suspicious activity or has relevant footage to come forward immediately. Your information could be vital in our ongoing investigation.”
