Gardai Seize 13 E-Scooters and Bikes in Major Dublin Crackdown

URGENT UPDATE: Gardai have seized a total of 13 electric scooters and bikes during a significant crackdown on criminal activity in Dublin today. The operation, part of Operation Meacan, also resulted in the confiscation of a drone, a diesel scrambler, and an electric Surron scrambler, raising serious concerns about their use in illicit activities.
Authorities confirmed that four individuals were arrested during this intensive operation, with three of them already having active warrants. The operation took place across five locations, including Blanchardstown, Ballyfermot, Clondalkin, and Rathcoole.
In addition to the vehicles, gardai seized approximately €10,000 worth of suspected liquid THC and €500 in cannabis, highlighting the extensive nature of criminal operations utilizing these e-vehicles. A spokesperson for the gardai stated that the seized items are believed to have been involved in organized crime activities.
The decision to conduct this ‘Day of Action’ stems from alarming research conducted by The Hague Centre for Strategic Studies, which underscores the strategic advantages drones provide to criminals, including trafficking illicit goods and conducting surveillance on rival territories.
Investigations are still ongoing, with gardai urging the community to remain vigilant as they continue to target organized crime groups across the city.
Stay tuned for updates on this developing story as authorities work to dismantle the networks behind these criminal activities.
