This thrilling event concluded just hours ago, with Black snatching the win from Wexford’s James Stafford by a mere 2 seconds.

The competition was fierce as Stafford initially dominated the rally, clocking the fastest time on Stage 1 and leading by 4.9 seconds. However, Black’s astonishing drive in the final stage, where he gained 10.7 seconds on Stafford, shifted the momentum dramatically and secured his first win of the season.

Stafford, who was in the lead heading into the final stage, had extended his advantage to 8.7 seconds before Black’s explosive performance turned the tables. The final results saw Stafford finish in second place, while Johno Doogan and co-driver Paul Lennon rounded out the podium in third.

Local crews also made their mark, with Chris O’Callaghan and his sister Kirsty finishing seventh overall, marking a successful debut for Kirsty navigating in a 2.5 machinery. The event attracted significant attention, with local dignitaries, including Mayor of Limerick John Moran, advocating for increased government support to host future World Rally Championships in Limerick.
