Buncrana’s Children’s Charity Supports 26 Families This Year

Buncrana’s Children’s Charity (BCC) has reported significant success in its efforts to support local children and families in 2025. The organization has already assisted 26 families, providing over €7,640 in direct aid since the start of the year, thanks to the remarkable generosity of the Inishowen community.
The charity’s committee attributed this success to the crucial support from local residents, businesses, and elected officials. These contributions, in the form of time, money, and resources, have been vital in ensuring that children in need receive the care they deserve. Vice Chairperson Caitlin Crossan emphasized the collective effort, stating, “Every success we’ve had this year belongs to the people of Inishowen.”
Community support has proven essential for the charity’s ongoing mission. Crossan highlighted the kindness shown by local residents, noting that the ability to support 26 children already in 2025 reflects the strong community spirit. She expressed pride in being part of a community that cares deeply for one another.
Majella McLaughlin, the charity’s Secretary, reinforced this sentiment, saying, “Every euro, every bag of clothes donated to the shop, every bit of fundraising — it all adds up and makes a real difference to local families.” She acknowledged that BCC relies entirely on the support from the community, which continues to demonstrate its strength and compassion.
The charity’s Public Relations Officer, Amanda Nelson, also underscored the significance of local backing for BCC’s future endeavors. “It is truly inspiring to see how our community continues to stand behind us,” she remarked. Nelson noted that the generosity of local residents not only provides financial assistance but also instills hope in families, reminding them they are not alone in their struggles.
BCC operates through a combination of donations, fundraising events, and the efforts of its charity shop, all made possible by the dedication of local individuals. The committee expressed heartfelt gratitude, stating, “From the bottom of our hearts, thank you to everyone who supports us. Together, we are changing lives across Inishowen — and with your continued kindness, we’ll keep raising that number higher.”
As Buncrana’s Children’s Charity continues its mission, it remains committed to building on the community’s support to reach even more families in need throughout the region. The organization looks forward to further successes in the coming months, driven by the collective spirit of caring exemplified by the Inishowen community.
