Gardaí Urgently Seek Public Help in Kyran Durnin Murder Case

UPDATE: Gardaí in Louth are urgently appealing for public assistance in the ongoing investigation into the disappearance and murder of Kyran Durnin, who would have celebrated his ninth birthday this year. Kyran was last seen in June 2022, when he was just six years old. With the case remaining unsolved, authorities are intensifying their efforts to uncover crucial information.

Despite extensive investigations, including over 570 separate actions, Gardaí have yet to locate Kyran or determine the circumstances surrounding his disappearance. Last October, officials confirmed there was no evidence suggesting Kyran is alive, prompting the launch of a formal murder investigation.

As part of their efforts, Gardaí have arrested two individuals—a man and a woman—on suspicion of murder. Both have since been released without charge. Investigators have also conducted thorough searches at three domestic residences and surrounding lands, employing excavation techniques and comprehensive forensic examinations.

Authorities have previously searched Kyran’s family home in Dundalk and two additional properties in Drogheda. It is important to note that the current tenants of the Dundalk residence have no connection to Kyran or his disappearance.

In addition to physical searches, Gardaí have seized numerous electronic devices, analyzing them alongside over 29,500 hours of CCTV footage from multiple locations. They continue to work closely with Tusla, the child and family agency, which was previously misled into believing Kyran was alive.

Leading the investigation is a Senior Investigation Officer stationed at the incident room in Drogheda Garda Station. Gardaí have issued a stark warning to the public against relying on rumors or speculation circulating online. A Garda spokesperson stated, “An Garda Síochána continue to appeal to the public, notwithstanding all the information that is in the public domain, to not assume that the investigation team knows the information that you may have.”

“Any information, no matter how insignificant it may seem, will be welcomed by the investigation team. This information will be treated in the strictest confidence,” the spokesperson added. Investigations are ongoing, and authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward.
