Body Recovered Off Irish Coast: Investigation Underway

URGENT UPDATE: A body has been recovered at sea off the Irish coast, prompting immediate investigative efforts by local authorities. Gardaí confirmed that they were alerted to this grim discovery near the Waterford coastline shortly after 9:00 AM on Thursday, October 26, 2023.
The body, believed to be that of a man, was found by a French trawler approximately 12 nautical miles (22 kms) southeast of Mine Head in Old Parish. Fishermen onboard the vessel made the shocking find in their nets during their first haul of the day. Preliminary indications suggest that the body may have been in the water for an extended period.
After the recovery, the body was brought ashore at Ballycotton in County Cork around 12:30 PM on the same day. A spokesperson for Gardaí stated, “The Coroner has been notified and the body has been transferred to Cork University Hospital, where a post-mortem examination will take place in due course. The results of the examination will determine the course of the Garda investigation.”
