Historic King’s Head Pub in Galway Under New Ownership Now

URGENT UPDATE: The iconic King’s Head pub in Galway City Centre has officially changed hands as of August 29, 2023. The Linnane Family has taken ownership from the Grealish Family, marking a significant moment in the pub’s storied history.
Emmet Linnane, the new owner, expressed his deep pride in the King’s Head, declaring it a vital part of Galway’s cultural landscape. “The King’s Head is more than just a pub; it is a Galway institution,” he stated. “Its reputation as an award-winning venue and cornerstone of community life is something we deeply respect.”
The King’s Head, known for its vibrant atmosphere and rich history spanning over 800 years, was recently recognized as one of Ireland’s Top 50 Bars by The Sunday Times. Linnane emphasized their commitment to honoring its legacy while ensuring it thrives for both locals and tourists.
The Grealish Family, who have managed the pub since 1989, expressed heartfelt wishes to the Linnanes. “We are delighted that another local Galway family, the Linnanes, are the new owners,” they stated. The Grealish family reflected on their 36 years as custodians of the historic venue, acknowledging the contributions of their staff and community.
Emmet Linnane assured patrons that the pub will continue to be a gathering point for locals and a memorable stop for visitors. “As Galwegians, we understand the responsibility of stewarding such a historic place,” he added.
