Major €140,000 Cocaine Seizure Leads to Arrest in Dublin

A man in his 40s has been arrested following a substantial cocaine seizure valued at approximately €140,000 in Blackrock, Co. Dublin. The operation, which was intelligence-led, took place on September 2, 2025, and resulted in the confiscation of around 2 kilograms of the drug.
The arrest was executed by officers from the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau (GNDOCB) in conjunction with the Dublin Metropolitan Region (DMR) East Divisional Drug Unit and Revenue Customs Service. The suspect is currently held at a Garda station in the Dublin area under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996. The seized drugs are now undergoing analysis by Forensic Science Ireland as the investigation continues.
In a statement, a Garda spokesperson emphasized the operation’s intelligence-driven nature, indicating its significance in the ongoing fight against drug trafficking. “As part of an intelligence-led operation, Gardaí have arrested a man, and Revenue officers have seized approximately 2 kg of suspected cocaine with an estimated value of €140,000 in Blackrock,” the spokesperson said.
The operation reflects a broader commitment to tackling organized crime and drug-related offenses in the Dublin area. Investigations are ongoing, and authorities are expected to release more details as they become available.
In a related initiative, Gardaí reported catching a total of 569 drivers speeding during the first part of a 24-hour National Slowdown Day operation. The operation commenced at midnight on September 1 and is scheduled to conclude at 11:59 PM the following day.
Notably, one driver was recorded traveling at 134 kph in a 100 kph zone on the N11 at Newtownmountkennedy in Co Wicklow. This operation, supported by the Road Safety Authority of Ireland and other key stakeholders, aims to promote road safety and reduce speeding incidents across the country.
The dual focus on drug trafficking and road safety showcases the Garda’s extensive efforts to ensure public safety in various domains. As the investigations proceed, authorities are urging the community to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities that could indicate drug trafficking or reckless driving.
