Kilkenny GAA Reschedules Matches Due to Heavy Rain Threat

URGENT UPDATE: Kilkenny GAA has announced significant changes to its upcoming fixtures due to inclement weather, following heavy rains this week and a forecast for more today. The scheduled Michael Lyng Motors Hyundai Intermediate Quarter-Final matches, originally set for UPMC Nowlan Park, have been relocated to ensure player safety and game integrity.
Young Irelands will now face St Lachtains at 2:00 PM in Canon Kearns Park, Castlecomer, while the match between Tullogher Rosbercon and Dunnamaggin has been shifted to Mullinavat at 4:00 PM today.
Despite the weather, Sunday’s quarter-finals will proceed as planned in UPMC Nowlan Park. James Stephens will compete against Blacks & Whites at 2:00 PM, followed by Mooncoin taking on Danesfort at 4:00 PM.
Additionally, the JJ Kavanagh Premier Junior Section B Semi-Final between city rivals O’Loughlin Gaels and Dicksboro has been rescheduled from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM on Sunday at St John’s Park. Meanwhile, the match between St Patrick’s and Windgap is confirmed for 1:00 PM in Clara on Sunday.
For those attending Saturday’s matches, new ticket prices are set at €10 for general admission and €5 for students and pensioners, while U16s can enter for free. Fans who purchased tickets for Saturday’s games will receive full refunds, with online purchases being processed automatically.
Fans are encouraged to stay updated as conditions evolve, and share this news to keep fellow supporters informed. The Kilkenny GAA community is resilient, and despite the weather challenges, the spirit of the games continues.
Stay tuned for further updates as more details emerge.
