Loughmore-Castleiney Set for Tipperary Hurling Quarter-Final Showdown

Defending champions Loughmore-Castleiney will face Toomevara in the Tipperary senior hurling quarter-finals, as determined by the draw held last night. This matchup is a repeat of the 2024 final, which saw Loughmore-Castleiney emerge victorious with a score of 2-19 to 1-17.
The McGrath brothers—John, Noel, and Brian—are expected to lead the Loughmore charge once again. They will compete against their county teammate Darragh McCarthy, who plays for Toomevara. This encounter adds further excitement to the already competitive race for the Dan Breen Cup, as Loughmore-Castleiney aims to continue their pursuit of a remarkable back-to-back championship.
Loughmore-Castleiney’s football team will also be in action, having drawn Ballina in their quarter-final. The club is aiming for its third Tipperary senior double in just eleven years, a feat they accomplished last season.
In addition to the Loughmore-Castleiney versus Toomevara clash, other quarter-final matchups include Moycarkey Borris against Drom and Inch, Holycross Ballycahill facing Cashel King Cormacs, and Nenagh Eire Og going up against Kilruane MacDonaghs. Notably, Kilruane MacDonaghs eliminated the 2023 champions, Kiladangan, in a recent game, adding to the drama of the quarter-finals.
The quarter-final matches are scheduled to be held as double-headers at Semple Stadium on the weekend of October 14-15, 2023. Fans are eagerly anticipating these encounters, which promise to deliver high-stakes action and showcase some of the best talent in Tipperary hurling.
