Driver Arrested in Carlow Town After Series of Serious Offenses

A driver was arrested in Carlow Town over the weekend after failing to stop for police officers and being found in possession of various illegal items. The incident occurred shortly before midnight on Saturday, March 16, 2024, in the town centre, leading to multiple serious charges against the motorist.
The driver faces allegations including possession of counterfeit currency, driving under the influence of cannabis, and criminal damage. Additionally, they were charged with possession of drugs, driving without a valid licence, and dangerous driving. According to a statement from Garda Síochána, the vehicle involved had no insurance, tax, or a valid National Car Test (NCT).
The police further revealed that the driver had previously been disqualified from operating a vehicle. Following the interception, authorities seized the car, and investigations into the incident are ongoing.
