**Kilkenny Gardai Seize Vehicle in Daylight Operation Amid Driver’s Pleas**

UPDATE: In a dramatic operation over the weekend, the Roads Policing Unit of An Garda Síochana in Kilkenny seized a vehicle on Bennettsbridge Road despite the driver’s desperate pleas for mercy. This incident underscores law enforcement’s proactive approach to road safety and enforcement.
Authorities reported that the seized car was previously confiscated from a disqualified driver who had previously evaded police attempts to stop. A social media post from the unit stated, “The car was known to members as it had recently been seized from a disqualified driver who had refused to stop for gardai.”
During the seizure, officers discovered that the driver was operating the vehicle without L plates. When questioned, the individual claimed to possess a full driving license—just not on their person at the time. The post humorously noted, “No point fibbing to the Mobility device, vehicle seized, lovely day for a stroll.”
This incident has raised concerns among the local community, which is already on high alert following reports of increased car thefts in the area. Residents are urged to remain vigilant as law enforcement ramps up efforts to curb criminal activity.
The Kilkenny Roads Policing Unit continues to monitor the situation closely and has called for public cooperation in reporting suspicious behavior. Authorities emphasize that such operations are crucial for maintaining safety on the roads and deterring criminal acts.
As the situation develops, residents will be watching closely for any further announcements from An Garda Síochana. Stay tuned for updates on this ongoing issue.
