Excitement builds as the Newcastle racetrack prepares for a thrilling day of flat racing on Sunday, featuring prominent events from venues including Ffos Las, Newcastle, and Craon, all broadcast live on Sky Sports Racing. The highlight of the day is the 6:45 PM race at Newcastle, where the High Gosforth Park Golf Club Handicap will showcase strong contenders including Oliver Show and Golden Mind.

Oliver Show has demonstrated remarkable form on all-weather tracks, achieving four victories from ten starts. Following a close fourth-place finish at Doncaster, he enters this race under the guidance of trainer George Boughey and jockey Billy Loughnane. His performance will be crucial as he aims to continue his success.

Golden Mind also presents a strong case for consideration, having previously won over the same course and distance. Despite a disappointing run at Chester, he could be a contender if he can bounce back effectively. Other noteworthy participants include The Wizard Of Eye, the 2024 Victoria Cup champion returning from a layoff, and the promising Grand Traverse, who remains an intriguing possibility.

Key Races at Ffos Las and Newcastle

The action continues at 1:55 PM at Ffos Las, where First Greyed will face off against Salaria in the Felinfoel RFC 150th Anniversary Novice Amateur Jockeys’ Handicap. First Greyed, trained by Thomas Faulkner, is in excellent form, having secured a hat-trick earlier in the spring. If he maintains his performance after a break, he could prove difficult to beat under jockey Sam Burton.

Salaria, one of four three-year-olds in the race, recently achieved a maiden victory on debut at Pontefract and may have more potential to demonstrate in this outing.

At 4:30 PM, the competitive Gosforth Bark Raw Pet Food Specialists Handicap will see Siempre Arturo and Prince Of The Seas go head-to-head. Siempre Arturo surprised many with a victory in the Racing League last month, and his subsequent win at Kempton confirms his capability. The horse is set to compete off a higher weight this time.

Prince Of The Seas is coming off a recent victory at Goodwood, following a solid performance at Ascot. With a slight increase in weight, he remains a strong competitor in this race. Additionally, Gran Descans has shown promise on this track, and improvement is anticipated in what will be his second appearance on all-weather terrain.

Additional Races and Highlights

The 3:55 PM race at Newcastle will feature a highly competitive mile-and-a-quarter handicap, with all eyes on Bragbor, who seeks to secure three wins from four starts.

Later at 5:40 PM, newcomer Foxtrot Flyer will debut for trainers Burke and Bloom, facing challenges from Augustus Gloop and Major Neigh Sayer, both of whom have begun their careers encouragingly.

Finally, at 6:15 PM, Sword aims for a strong performance in what appears to be a more manageable contest, dropping down in class. Earlier in the day at 12:03 PM, Jack Channon will saddle Excellent Believe in a Listed heat at Craon, following a competitive outing against the high-profile Zeus Olympios at Haydock.

With a full slate of races lined up, Sunday promises to deliver thrilling moments for racing fans across the board.
