Volvo Upgrades EX90 with Faster Charging and New Tech Features

Volvo has unveiled significant technological enhancements for its flagship electric SUV, the EX90, set to roll out in 2024. The Swedish automaker has transitioned to an innovative 800-volt architecture, a substantial upgrade from the previous 400-volt system. This change is expected to facilitate faster charging, allowing drivers to gain up to 250 km of range in just 10 minutes.
In addition to improved charging capabilities, the new EX90 features an electrochromic panoramic roof. This capability, first introduced in the ES90 electric saloon, offers drivers the option to adjust the glass’s transparency at the touch of a button. This enhancement not only adds a modern touch but also increases comfort for passengers by allowing more control over sunlight and visibility.
Safety remains a top priority for Volvo, as indicated by the introduction of several new safety alert systems in all EX90 models. The Emergency Stop Assist feature will automatically bring the vehicle to a controlled stop if the driver does not respond to warnings, ensuring an additional layer of protection. Furthermore, the new “e-call” function establishes an automatic connection to an emergency call centre associated with Volvo, providing immediate assistance in the event of an accident.
The order books for the upgraded EX90 are now open, with prices starting at €99,895. As the automotive industry increasingly shifts towards electric vehicles, Volvo’s latest enhancements to the EX90 reflect the company’s commitment to innovation and safety in electric mobility. The combination of faster charging, advanced safety features, and modern design positions the EX90 as a competitive option within the growing electric vehicle market.
